Ontario Suzuki Piano Teacher Development

In 1974, Gail Lange began her career as Suzuki piano teacher in Guelph, ON. Since becoming a Teacher Trainer in 1984, Gail has made it a point to observe outstanding teachers. She spent 4 months in Matsumoto working with Drs. Suzuki and Kataoka, short periods in studios of Doris Koppelman and Bruce Anderson, and observed Master Classes taught by Leon Fleisher in Toronto. She also studies periodically with James Anagnoson in Toronto.

Gail has an active studio with students from ages 4 to 18; over the years her students have won many awards and distinctions. Many fine Ontario Suzuki teachers have trained in her studio, where she offers apprenticeship courses at all levels. Gail is Past-Chair of the Suzuki Association of Ontario and former piano director of SOSI. For her contributions in music education, Gail was awarded the Jubilee Medal commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
