pandora bryce

Dr. Pandora Bryce is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, a position she has held since 1984. She has given flute and pedagogy master classes in Aspen, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, Utah and at many American universities. Dr. Bryce holds a B.Mus. and M. Mus. in Flute Performance, and was awarded the national Gold Medal by the Royal Conservatory of Music. She completed doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, and is now a Research Associate of the Canadian Music Education Research Centre. Her research in music education includes projects in the areas of meaning and music, optimal performance states, personal construct psychology, collaborative learning, memory and music, adult continuing education, and learning styles in the music education setting.

Solo performances include the concertos of Canadian composers Jacques Hétu and Michael Conway Baker, and recitals in Auckland, Melbourne and Great Britain. An active chamber musician, she has been with the ensemble Three Piece Suite since 1984, and has been a member of the Ambrosia ensemble and Ardeleana, an interdisciplinary group that combines music, poetry, story and drama. Her recordings include film scores, radio broadcasts and ren titles on the Solitudes and Avalon labels.

Pandora Bryce has published numerous articles including Reflections on Learning Judo and Meaningful music listening: what to listen for in the barn-raising scene in the movie Witness (Canadian Music Educator Winter 2001 volume). Other articles include Enriching the Rehearsal Model Through Collaborative Music Learning, (Canadian Music Educator, Fall 2001), Stage Presence and Communication: An Interview With Tenor Marc Dubois (American Suzuki Journal, Summer 1999) and Learning Styles (Ability Development, Journal of the British Suzuki Institute, Spring 2000). She was writer/editor of the Flute Column of the American Suzuki Journal from 1987 to 1993, and is the author of Teaching Flute in the Classroom, a manual for band teachers. She co-authored the Summy-Birchard publication Ensembles for Flute, a book of flute duets and trios.

Dr. Bryce is a registered Teacher Trainer in the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the European Suzuki Association, and offers short-term and apprenticeship training courses and the Suzuki introductory course Every Child Can!.

david gerry

David Gerry received his B.Mus.Perf. And M.Mus. Degrees from the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto and an ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, which awarded him the gold medal for flute. His teachers have included Nora Shulman, Suzanne Shulman, Toshio Takahashi and Geoffrey Gilbert. He is also a graduate of the Suzuki Talent Education Institute in Japan. David is on the faculty of the School of the Arts at McMaster University, Mohawk College and the Great Lakes Flute Centre. A Registered Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the European Suzuki Association, David has taught, adjudicated and performed at workshops, festivals and conferences across North America, as well as in Australia, England, Ireland, Finland and France. He is the flute columnist for the American Suzuki Journal and has also written for Flute Talk and the Flutist Quarterly. David maintains an active performing schedule as a soloist and chamber musician.

kenichi ueda

Kenichi is a graduate of the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan where he studied with Dr.S.Suzuki and T.Takahashi, founders of the Suzuki Method and Suzuki Flute School.  After moving to the U.S. in 1982, he taught at the Cornell College, the Preucil School of Music in Iowa, the Summerstar Music Studio and Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.  He has won the American Harp Society Concert Artist Competition with harpist Jill Whitman and performed extensively in the U.S., Canada and Japan. He has also performed with the Skagit Valley Symphony and premiered the Flute Concerto by Japanese composer Hisatada Otaka.  He is one of the Teacher Trainers for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and teaches at Suzuki Institutes and workshops worldwide.  He has adjudicated for music festivals such as the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, Horsfall Music Festival, and the Music Festivals at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.  Kenichi now lives in London, Ontario with his wife and new baby.  Kenichi currently teaches at the Suzuki music academy at the Nancy Campbell Institute in London, Ontario.

kelly williamson

Kelly Williamson holds a B.Mus.(Perf.) with Distinction from McGill University and a  M.Mus. degree from l’Universite de Montréal. Her long-term teachers have included Timothy Hutchins, Heather Howes, and Denis Bluteau and she has taken private lessons with Toshio Takahashi, Geoffrey Gilbert, and Peter Lloyd. She worked as a musician in Montreal for 18 years, including several appearances as soloist with orchestra, orchestral work for various theatre productions, participation on CDs for Chroma Musika and Montreal West Operatic Society, and other freelance work.  She was a regular member of Trio Ambiance and played several seasons with L’Ensemble Sinfonia and l’Orchestre Symphonique de l’Ile. She also maintained a private studio, served as President of Suzuki Musique Montreal, and was Suzuki Flute Coordinator at the McGill Conservatory.  She now lives and teaches in London, Ontario. Kelly has been a frequent clinician in public and private schools, an adjudicator at the music festivals, and she is invited to teach at workshops in Canada, the US, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, and Tanzania. She was appointed a Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas in May 2006, volunteers her time for the Suzuki community at the local and international levels, and contributes regularly to the American Suzuki Journal..
