Private lessons in piano or theory are available in Guelph. Younger students generally come for 30 minutes a week for approximately 36 lessons during the school year (payable at the beginning of each of the 4 terms; based on $45 per hour), and more advanced students have 45 minute lessons weekly, or 60 minute lessons biweekly.
Emphasis is on developing basic musical and technical skills, and awareness of variety in sound production, while always enjoying music. The teaching style will vary with the individual personality and abilities. More advanced students will broaden their repertoire and become more aware of style, phrasing, pedalling, and articulation.
The Guelph South End studio is fully equipped with a grand piano, MIDI electronic piano, extensive music library, sound system, and music software/recording capability on a Macintosh computer, DAT or Minidisc.
