Jeff Bowers (King Sextimus the Silent)
Jeff Bowers is currently pursuing His Musical Theater Career at Eastwood Collegiate for the Arts with Dance, Drama, and vocal. Jeff's Selected theater Credits Credits include Steven Truscott Story (Butch, Hobbs, Forman), Grease (u/s Sonny/dancer), SchoolHouse rock LIVE (tom), Driving Miss Daisy (hoak). Jeff Has had the Pleasure of Working With the New York Cast of Chicago in a Workshop of All That Jazz. His Selected Workshops Include Godspell, A Chorus Line, Hairpspray, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Breakfast Club Tilt, Sound & Motion, The Danny Grossman Dance Company, and many others.Thanks to The "Rents" and all my friends. “There’s no buissness like Show Buissness.”
Celidh Barker (Lady Mabelle)
This is Celidh's second show with GYMT and she is very excited to be back for Once Upon A Mattress. Previous shows include Les Mis (Mme. Thenardier) and Grease (Ensemble). Celidh is a grade 10 student in the Eastwood Collegiate arts program majoring in voice and drama..
Katelyn Buisman (Lady Larken)
This is Katelyn’s second year as a part of Guelph Youth Musical Theatre, and she’s hoping that this year”s production of Once upon a Mattress is just as much fun as Les Miserables. This is her first major role in a community theatre, but she has also been involved in many school drama productions, the most recent being segments from Fiddler on the Roof. Katelyn enjoys playing all types of instruments and is in her seventh year of violin lessons, preparing for her grade eight exam in June. Katelyn has been a member of Guelph Youth Singers for five years and loves both acting and singing. As a grade 11 student at Woodland Christian High School, she occupies herself with many extracurricular activities including athletics, choir, and drama, while somehow keeping up with her schoolwork.
Fiona Douglas (Lady Lucille)
Fiona is thrilled to be working with GYMT! She has been doing theatre for years and years, but this is her first time working with this company. Previously, Fiona has worked with Royal City Musical Productions, Inc., Guelph Little Theatre, Summer Musical Theatre School, and Performing Arts Summer School. She is involved in the arts at her school, St. James, where she is completing grade nine. She thanks her family and her fellow friends in the arts for their neverending support and inspiration.
Dennise Fung (Dancer)
Although this is her first musical, Denise has performed many times both on stage and on the ice. She has been studying dance since the age of 4, and currently dances and works at Royal City School of Ballet. A former figure skater, she competed at the national level in ice dance for several years. Denise has recently received her teaching qualifications from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in modern theatre dance. She is also assistant to the choreographer for this show.
Nicole Smith (Princess Winnifred the Woebegone)
Nicole Smith is extremely excited to be a part of Once Upon a Mattress. At age sixteen, she has been taking vocal lessons for 8 years. She has competed in several music festivals in Brantford Ontario, playing a variety of different characters. Some of them include Sally Brown of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Nellie Forbush of South Pacific, and Miss Adelaide of Guys and Dolls. Nicole lives in Cambridge Ontario and attends Monsignor Doyle CSS, where she played Cinderella‚s Mother in their production of Into the Woods last April. She sings in three choirs including her school's chamber and jazz choirs, and has played the French Horn for three years. Nicole has absolutely loved working with Anne Monkhouse, Pat McLeod, and the entire cast/production team of Once Upon a Mattress for the first time. She is thrilled to be playing (her first major role in a musical) Princess Winnifred the Woebegone, and hopes that everyone enjoys the show!
Makyla Walerickton (Dancer)
This is Makyla’s first show with GYMT and she is very excited to be dancing in Once Upon a Mattress. She has previously been involved in The Gifts of Time Community Play and several productions with Guelph Youth Theater. Makyla has been dancing at the Royal City School of Ballet and Theater Jazz Inc. for 7 years and has just completed the bronze level of the Medals examinations in modern jazz. As a grade 9 student at GCVI, Makyla enjoys playing in the school concert band and jazz band. Makyla has been playing piano for 6 years and is currently working towards her grade 8 piano exam. Makyla wishes the cast and crew good luck and hopes everyone enjoys the show!
Rachel Wallace (Lady)
Rachel is excited to be joining GYMT for her musical theatre debut. She is actively involved in her school's music program, where she sings and plays clarinet and oboe in many of the ensembles. She has played piano for 7 years and is teaching herself how to play guitar.
